Choices

You remember waking up to
warm bodies intertwined
every daybreak, every sunrise
a musical loop that serves to remind

You loved the sleep in her eyes and
the taste of morning on her lips
Hours of talking and reminiscing
in between smiles and coffee sips

Coffee in bed 2
She liked hers with cream no sugar
you took yours black and sweet
Those lazy Sunday mornings
in between crumpled sheets

You remember her hand in yours
how it was such a perfect fit
and how holding her in your arms
was as natural as instinct

Now
your sheets are still crumpled
but your coffee tastes bitter
your mornings are chilly
and you know that you miss her

Your bed is empty
it looms larger in your room
as you focus on the ring she left
next to a bottle of her perfume

Reminding you of your choices
and the right you had to make them
Reminding you of your promises
and the right you had to break them

One moment you’re drowning and
the next you’re dying of thirst
All you know is the moment is gone
and it could not be rehearsed

The choice was yours to make
it was the choice you chose to take —
your choice became your burden
your greatest mistake

Some live and some die
in that one moment of regret
The moment moves on
but you will never forget.

All Of Me

3469b6d945eae9824f82a0d5846ac522

I saw you sitting in that dimly lit shop
nursing your coffee as if it might drop
Your eyes were so distant yet so firmly set
I didn’t know you
yet

We were
two lonely voyagers who happened to meet
once in a lifetime
oh your eyes smiled so sweet
on the road to some place we knew not where
we only knew
that we’d know it..
when we got there..
oh we’d know it,
when we got there.

I don’t have much but what I got
You can have it
My heart, my soul
If you can bear it, it’s yours
The tears in these eyes,
the scars that you see,
they are not that pretty
but they are all of me.
They are all of me

Once in a lifetime
You can have all of me

Oh we danced ‘neath that night sky
so bright were the stars
we moved to a song
heard with only our hearts

Your touch was like magic
you played me so well
strings of healing, our  music
was a harmonious spell

And I knew..
all my life I’d been waiting
waiting for someone like you

I don’t have much but what I got
You can have it
My heart, my soul
If you can bear it, it’s yours
The tears in these eyes,
the scars that you see,
they are not that pretty
but they are all of me.
They are all of me

Once in a lifetime
You can have all
of me

Coffee Shop Encounter

It was a quiet afternoon of reminiscingimage
Nostalgia lingered in the sunlit air
intermingling with the sweet aroma of coffee
as I sipped and leaned back in my chair

˜

He walked up to me as I sat by the window
I waited to see what he wanted to say
Your skin is the color of my mocha’, he smiled.
‘Just a notch deeper than your café au lait.’

°

With his jet black hair and Mediterranean eyes
And a physique worthy of a prize winning stallion
His confident air and his subtle smirk
He had to be greek, or maybe a charming Italian

˜

Long hair in a messy bun that didn’t care
jeans ripped in strategic places
His gaze never left my quizzical eyes
obscuring everyone else’s faces

°

He waited for me to respond
mere seconds since his saunter
Forever engraving in my mind,
This coffee shop encounter…

Coffee Conversations

She:
The world needs more hand-written love letters
and people holding hands,
and  each other.

He:
The world needs unwakeable dreamers
peering over their lip-mounted cafe au laits,
inhaling the nostalgia of quivering edge-curled
pre-autumn leaves.

She:
The air is filled with the scent of those words.

He:
ah.. if i could trade places with an empty chair beside you
I’d certainly have a more accurate sense than this “waiting room”

I will always remember

sunset
I will always remember
standing next to you~
the way your hand glides over my back
slowly caressing..
soothing..
teasing,
then retreating..

sitting near you
as you read
engrossed in words,
your mind in a place far away.
Sometimes
you will read to me,
and I love the sound of your voice.
So often it seems
I have heard your voice
long before you spoke to me

When I feel sad and alone ~
as if you sense my somber wistfulness,
you take my hand in yours,
intertwine your fingers with mine,
and hold them..
gently yet firmly.
you bring my fingers to your lips
and kiss them.

I will always remember
the way you kiss me,
the way you hold my mouth
between your thumb and fingers
and draw my lips towards yours
as if you are claiming ownership,
ownership
and I so want to be claimed by you.
Nothing else matters at that moment,
when I can feel you smile
in the middle of that kiss..
knowing you have
all of me.
and I can’t help but also smile..
